Could your family benefit from an extra few hundred $ cash or gift cards to spend this Christmas? If so, this post is for you
I hear you – Christmas is still months away! But if you could do with some extra $ to spend at Christmas, now’s a great time to get started with this simple way to earn $ and gift cards. Once the holidays are here you’ll be glad you did!
As the title of this post suggests, you can make those extra $ doing simple online surveys. I’ve been doing surveys for around 18 months now. For me it’s been a really simple, flexible way to help out with the family budget from home.
Here’s how it works, and how you can get started….
How much can you earn?
On average I bring in an extra $100-$200 a month depending on how many surveys I choose to do. So if you put in even less effort and made $50 a month between now and Christmas, that’s $300 cash/gift cards you’d have to spend. Do more and obviously that number could be a lot more too.
It really depends on how many sites you’re a member of and how many surveys you do. Also the number of surveys you’re sent depends on your own household demographics. I did notice that when I was doing surveys this time around as a Mom I seem to be getting lots more surveys as compared to when I was studying, didn’t have kids and wasn’t the main person doing the shopping for the household.
What I like about surveys
The thing I really like about doing surveys is I can do them when it suits me – usually that’s while I’m watching TV, nursing my baby girl or when I’m online wasting time scrolling through Facebook or something. I really enjoy doing some of the surveys too and giving my opinion on new products and things. I mainly cash out my rewards in Amazon gift cards which I use to buy essentials for the house and new baby items, and I also redeem some in cash which helps us have more fun money or to pay a bill or two.
What sites can you earn good rewards with?
There are A LOT of online survey companies out there but they’re definitely not all created equal. Some are downright scams while others just don’t send many surveys so it takes forever to earn enough to redeem your rewards. There are plenty of good ones though – here are the 6 sites I have found to be the best:
1. Harris Poll Online
Harris Poll are one of the sites I redeem rewards from quite often. I also really like that when you take a survey, in addition to the points you earn you can also go into a $10,000 sweepstakes draw. Along with the online surveys, you can also occasionally get invitations to things like in person focus groups which generally pay really good $ for an hour or two of your time. As with the other programs, rewards include gift cards to Amazon and lots of other stores.
2. Pinecone Research
Pinecone is my absolute favorite survey site. They pay $3 for every survey you complete and the surveys are fairly quick to complete. I also occasionally get sent products to test at home which is a bit of fun. There’s no minimum to cash out, and they pay out very quickly as well. You can redeem rewards via payment to your PayPal account, via check and a number of other options. I get sent around 2 surveys per week from Pinecone – I wish they sent more!
Because they’re so easy to work with, they are very popular and only take new members at select times throughout the year. I’ve included them in this post as they are currently taking new members – I wouldn’t tell you about it if you couldn’t join I don’t know how long they’ll be accepting new members for, so if you’re interested, sign up before it’s too late.
i-Say is another site that I redeem rewards from quite often. The number of reward points you earn per survey is usually quite good and they also have a loyalty program that allows you to earn bonus points once you’ve taken a number of surveys. You can redeem your points for vouchers to Amazon and lots of other places.
YouGov surveys are short and quick, most taking around 5 minutes to complete. Their surveys are focused on getting your views on current affairs as well as products and brands which I usually find quite interesting to give my opinion on. Redeem points for rewards in cash, merchandise and gift cards including VISA, Amazon, Walmart and lots of others. They’re currently offering a 2000 points sign up bonus too
Swagbucks is great because you not only earn points called SB for taking surveys, you can also earn for heaps of other things you already do online – the easiest of all is searching online from their page instead of Google, Bing etc. Rewards include gift cards to Amazon and heaps of other stores, cash paid to your PayPal account or Visa pre-paid cards.
E-Poll surveys are some of my favorite to do as they’re entertainment related – things like TV shows, TV characters, commercials etc. They’re very reliable with payment and rewards include cash to your PayPal account and gift cards for heaps of retailers including Amazon, iTunes and Walmart. The minimum cash out amount for PayPal is $5 so you can cash in rewards quite frequently which is awesome.
MySurvey generally send out a really good amount of surveys, so there are lots of opportunities to earn rewards and cash out. They generally pay $1 to $5 per survey and have a low minimum payout. You can get paid in cash via PayPal or get gift vouchers to Amazon and other stores.
>Do more, earn more
Sign up to as many sites as you can. The more sites you’re a member of, the more surveys you’ll be sent and more rewards you can earn.
>Check your email
Check your email to confirm your account. Once you’ve signed up on the survey website, most will send you an email that you’ll need to open to activate your account and start receiving surveys.
Also check your emails regularly for survey opportunities. Some surveys are only open for a day or so before they close.
>Complete your profile
Fill in all of the information you can in your profile in each site. The more information they have, the better they can match surveys to you. Make sure you’re completely honest with all of your answers. The survey companies need people from all walks of life and demographics, so don’t feel like you need to try and fit into a certain demographic to get more surveys.
>Don’t ever pay to join a site
All of the sites I listed here are ones myself and many others have had good experiences with and are completely free to join. If you do want to sign up for other sites too, be wary of any that require you to pay to join – actually run the other way!
>Replace wasting time online with doing surveys
This was the easiest way I found to start earning regularly. If I picked up my phone or laptop to start browsing Facebook or do something else unimportant online, I’d instead check my email to see if there were surveys available. This is also why it’s really beneficial to be a member of a number of sites, as you’re more likely to have surveys available for you to do when it suits you.
That’s all there is to it – I did say it’s simple! Go ahead and sign up and start earning those rewards to help your family have an awesome Christmas
